Luminous intensity

Not sure what forum to post this in, but here goes.
Does the luminous intensity rating on leds have an effect on coral growth? Is it like lumens? I am asking because the leds I want to use for my pico have a luminous intensity of 16000-18000.
Also, can I use regular leds instead of CREE leds?

Can you get regular instead of Cree? Do you want regular fuel in your hot-rod or High Octane? There IS a difference for sure. Buy cheap LED and you'll be replacing them eventually. Either because you aren't happy or because they die on you.
