Lunar Wrasse Hiding

I have noticed lately that my wrasse has been spending most of the time hiding. I was a little worried today that she was dead, but she has moved and is looking at me through a break in the LR. Any insight? She is in a 180 gallon tank with: large Volitan, a huma huma, and niger trigger, yellow tang, queen angel, porupine puffer, maroon clown and a purple damsel. The damsel was the last addition. Nitrates stay at 0, ph 8.2, temp 76. She used to be out all the time. I am moving them to a 240 as soon as I find the time to buff the acrylic.

How old is She? I have a lunar also that is around 5" and they say around a certain age they begin to change in to their adult colorations and that they actually become very lethargic and unattentive at that time. Yours may be becoming an adult. They change kind of dramatically from juvenile to adult. Then after they become an adult they are fine again. Usually last a couple weeks.

How big is it and what coloration does it have? I have one and it moves all around the tank mines about 4-5'' long. Pink strips in the face greenish-blue body with a yellow tail. I was told that thats its adult color. Im not sure if I'm right?

That is similar to its adult colors but they become quite a bit brighter as they get older. Kind of like this pic.

Mine is pretty bright, Just a little concerned that she is hiding so much, Like I said I have a 240 gallon tank that I need to get up, only 60 gallons more volume but it is 8' long compared to 5' on my 180.

Does she hide only when you are in the room? Try and peek in on the tank and see if she comes out when you aren't there. Could the new damsel have brought in a disease? Seems odd to me that the lunare is hiding so much. Mine is very, very active even when he is startled he tends to go from one hiding spot to another....

Nice pic Sean!! I can never get a good pic of mine, only a blur as he races by!! ;)

I don't think so, everyone else is business as usual. Should I try to catch her and put her in QT for a while to watch her? I just don't have a large enough hospital tank for her (when she is active)

Anybody overly aggressive toward the Lunare? In my previous tank, mine used to squabble on a regular basis with my Niger Trigger with the Niger typically coming out on top, I think it stressed my Lunare a bit.

Everybody seems to get along, I am going to start using a dropper to get food to her tonight to see if she will eat.

So, she is still eating on occasion. She continues to hide. When she comes out, she acts erratically and goes back into hiding. Last night I saw her lying on her side at the back of the tank. I still cannot determine what the issue is, but I am guessing that she is not going to live much longer. Lisa told me that she had a wrasse do the same thing without ever determining a cause.
