I have one female anthias in my 180 gallon reef setup and am thinking of adding a male and was wondering how many more females would be the min. that I should have along with the male. I currently have 8 fish in the tank along with quite a bit of growing sps coral so I dont want to add more fish then what i have to to keep everyone happy.
thanks
Jeff

I would only add more, females to an established female. The established female will turn into a male.

I would only go with females like Peter suggested. The lone female you already have has probably started the sex change but it isn't visable to you yet. Stick with smaller sized females and you should be ok.

so how many would you suggest that I purchase? I didnt know if one male and 2 females would be enough or if I would need a third female.
thanks
Jeff

I had a trio for a couple years, no problems. In fact, the original trio is in my avatar right now :)

I picked up 2 females yesterday. You guys were right, the female that has been in my tank for the last 6 months or so has started to turn male. He/she has gotten the pronounced fins of the male but not really changed color much compared to the other females. this will be interesting watching her change in color.
