I just purchased three lypetail anthias all are females orange in color will one turn into a male, and how long would this take.

Most likely one will turn. There was a thread from earlier in the year with multiple photos of the progression and the timing of it. FOUND IT

Normally takes longer than described in that thread though.

Think it is hard to say.... I'm amazed at how fast SDguys changed... I've had a trio that one started to change to a male about six months ago. However his dorsal fin has gotten very long and his is the dominant fish but his colors have not changed. Guess he is not in a big hurry. I added another female last week to try to get him to speed up the process. I had the trio for about six months before the one even started to change to a male... Good luck with yours.
