lyretail anthias

i was considering getting a male and 2 female anthias for my 100 gallon tank.

liveraquaria gives the minimum tank size as 125 gal though.

does anyone know why.

i have 2 clown fish 4 chromis and a royal gramma just now.

i won't give any fish a poor environment but was looking for some information.

my tank is a FOWLR system with lots of rock and hidding places.

I think 3 would be fine in a 100 gallon.

i would imagine so as they only grow to 5 inches but live aquaria
would let you habe tangs in a 50 and things like that so i always leave room from what they say.

Here are a couple of mine...They are in a 210 here. This picture is at least a year old, but they are still doing great.

beautiful fish what do you feed them.

I feed them a couple of times a day. I feed them cyclopeeze, mysis, ocean plankton, occasional live adult brine, live baby brine, Formula I, Formula II, squid, Rod's Food (mixture of many frozen foods) krill, etc. 2 will eat flakes while the other two never developed a taste for them. They also eat whatever they can find in the tank like live mysids, snail eggs, etc.

it has since been changed to a minimum of 70 gallons for blue tangs and 100 for yellow.

good but 70 gal for a blue tang and 125 for a anthias.

would just be interested to find out the reasoning behind that.

I understand that anthias can sometimes be difficult to feed, and perhaps the large tank requirement allows for plenty of live rock and copepods. I am not sure. I have 1 male and 3 female lyretails in a 115 gal. They were a little slow to eat but now eat all frozen food I feed them. Maybe the chromis and clowns will convince them to eat flake and dry food also.
