M Doreensis experiences?

What are your experiences with keeping M Doreensis (LTA) ?

Preferrably in terms of currents (low, medium, strong) and where it is placing its foot.. But of course any input is great :) so please share.
Thanks

My only experience was with the shipping aspect of them. I tried 3 times to get a nice purple one & 3 times no matter the size or shipper they all arrived dead.

3 strikes & I'm out... unless a local store gets one I will never have a PLTA :(

I have one almost a year now. In my limited experience they seem to be pretty hardy. Mine has attacked my power head twice, losing both times. I let it back itself out and recovered in a week. It likes to attach its foot under the sand next to the rock and likes low-medium flow. I have a Sunpod with 2x150w MH and it parked itself right under the right one. Loves silversides!

I do have some pics in my gallery.

Quickcord

That is a very nice striped LTA you got there quickcord. My lfs just got one not too long ago buts its more of a brown and white stripe.

spoiled, I will tell you what my lta likes ..it likes a deep sand bed, a place where there is little water movement and just like quickcords LTA... mine loves silversides too. Make sure you have a big enough tank for the LTA because they get quite big.

We have one, almost 1yr (3-22-07). We have low flow. It's foot is in the sand, right up against the glass. it does move around, but stays there the most. Our RBTA usually keeps him in place!

click the little red house, and then link to the 20g! they are getting a 29 or 39g soon.

Thanks everyone for sharing! That is some very nice animals you guys got as well! Congrats!

I've had mine for about 6 months now. It was all bleached and white when I got it but its now green/brown.

My experience was the same as yours, it like low-medium flow. However yesterday it moved and is now almost in front of one of the pumps. Which is the reason for me asking since this is completely the opposite of what I previously noticed in the tank.

My guess is (since I'm not using a DSB) it didn't have enough space for the foot at its former spot because it's been growing quite a lot of the past months. It is now on top of the rocks with its foot straight down.

I've seen it show the foot being 10-15cm (+5 inches) long so its quite a foot this anemone got there hehe.

I had one for years that died when a heater malfunctioned and I was out of town. I was so sad to lose that anemone. It was the color of a RBTA. What I learned was that the way to keep it from moving was to provide it with a pvc pipe that had the end piece sealed on with aquarium silicon. If it just had the pvc alone, without the end piece sealed on, it would move. The pvc I found at home depot and with the end piece it was 6 inches long. It was full of fine aragonite. Water flow was moderate. It was located about 5 inches below two 55-watt pc's. Mine would eat silversides, squid, and krill, probably shrimp too, but I can't remember feeding that.
