MACNA XXI - Next September

So it's more than a year off, but I'm already making plans for the NJ MACNA. For several reasons:

- only a 6 hour drive from PGH by car
- CASINOS
- discounted room rates (for us at Harrah's properties)

Now typically I'd always choose to stay in the hotel connected to the trade center. But in this case I'm leaning towards making my own room deals. Caesars and Bally's are only 2 blocks from the convention center. They were talking about $139 a night for rooms, which is a good rate for a convention hotel. But typically we pay $11 a night for casino rooms, and that is all NJ tax. Free rooms rock.

Caveat that those room rates are based on play. It doesn't take much gambling to rate those room offers. We are very low stakes players. If you are a gambler, you might consider a spring trip out to AC to make sure your room rates are up to date.

Along that same line, couldn't the club charter a bus or something to bring everyone out? I got to figure a bunch of those buses run taking senior citizens to Atlantic City. Can't we get our own bus so we don't all end up smelling like moth balls and Bengay? Might make bringing raffle items home problematic, though.

We had a dozen Pittsburghers in Atlanta. We should easily be able to double that for Atlantic City. Plus, I know Elmer's is going to be sending a large group as well. We could go in on transportation with them.

I've looked into that before for trips to Seven Springs. It wasn't that expensive really.

We'd be interested if we don't go out a day or two early. Might get out there Wednesday and gamble for a couple nights before the conference.

Different travel days might be the biggest problem. I would prefer to go out Wednesday or early Thursday and come home Monday morning, but getting several dozen people to all leave and come home on the same days could be tricky. Might just be easier to caravan interested parties.

Caravan eh? Is that the thing where I drive incredibly fast like an *** and then a certain Italian friend of ours yells at me for driving incredibly fast like an ***?

Pass! :)

Don't worry. I will throw that Italian friend in the Pro family party van next year so he won't have to keep up with you. We can watch movies and I can pack a cooler full of drinks and treats for the ride down to keep him content. Then we can fill that cooler at the show with fish and corals for the drive home.

Where does the beer fit in and can we listen to John Pinette on the way?

I want to reserve a seat in the Pro Party Van. Where do I send my reservation to?

Wow... do you have any idea how much beer I would have to drink to listen to John Pinette all the way to AC? :eek2: I would almost rather ride with a screaming baby... might actually be less irritating.
