Macro Alage? Planted FOWLR?

Hello RC,

A little background, I have a 220 stocked with:

yellow tang
hippo tang
blue ring angel
algae blenny
dussumieri tang

Tank Lighting is an ATI 60" 6 bulb power module.

Please note the tank is very tall, with a height of ~36".

Is there any macro that grows fast enough to handle being picked on by the tangs and other inhabitants?

Or

Is there any macro that is unappetizing to my stock list, that will help achieve the "planted" look?

Any pics/experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

You could try one of the faster-growing macros such as Caulerpa racemosa or C. taxifolia, which may work out once established. Both are quick growers, and IME, both tolerate being picked at fairly well.

What may work for you is to establish the macro in a bucket or small tank, then rotate the rocks in and out of your DT. If nothing else, establish the macro before adding it to the DT to give it a head start.
