Macro Algae and new setup

Are any types of macro algae safe to put in a seahorse tank?

My only question is, in a new SH tank set-up, there are really low nutrients in the water. When you get your water, rocks, and sand in the tank, how do you know when to start adding macro algae? And after that, when do you start adding seahorses? With low nutrients, wouldn't the algae die off before you could get some seahorses in the tank?

Unless I have it backwards, seahorses first to increase nutrients and then add the macro. I just figured macro went in first to start building up pods.

Any tips appreciated!

I start adding macro right after the cycling period. Never ahd a problem with it myself.

You can wait to add the macro until you add the seahorses if you like.

IMO best not to let the nutrients build up, or a different type of algae will appear o it's own. ;)

That's cool, so basically you don't need "pooping fish" in the tank, the macroalgae with live on its own? :)
