Macro algae on snail?

Hi!

Is this some kind of macro algae growing on this astrea snail and if so, can you please ID it?

Is it good? Is it bad? I believe it could compete with the hair algae...

Thank you

Looks like the slime that you usually clean off your glass..... Is your tank full of this stuff? If not I wouldn't be concerned with it....

How old is your tank?

Are you still in cycle?

Do you have a refugium?

Mgmm,

My tank is about three months old. I bought cured liverock from the LFS so I believe the cycle is complete and I don't have a refugium.

I do have some hair algae but not much of a concern. This algae that is growing on the snail is quite different and unique in my tank, it's growing nowhere else.

Thanks for the input.

*shudder* Looks like bryopsis to me too. Very difficult to get rid of from what I've read. If the snail shell is the only place you're seeing it, I'd remove the snail and scrub it off as best you can so it doesn't spread.

yeah, i was reading about the bryopsis early today and it looks like it to me, although i have been lucky enough to not have seen it yet in my own tank, only on this screen in front of me. GL, Mike
