IME, Caulerpa racemosa is a bit more efficient at removing nutrients, but it has the drawback of potentially getting established in the main tank and may be hard to keep pruned and may proliferate there. Some people worry about and a few have experienced it sporulating, which can be a drawback. I've never had it happen in more than a decade.
That said, I now use Caulerpa racemosa for my several refugia, but I previously used Chaetomorpha. And yes, it is established din my main tank and needs occasional manual pruning there.
Which ever one you like better. Its the addtional flow and water volume and pod production that would be a great addition and any perfered macro algea only adds to the benifit.
