macro len suggestion

I have a nikon 40 D which macro lens do you guys suggest.

Mostly used for the tank.

Lookin at Sigma MACRO 105mm F2.8 EX DG.

What do you guys suggest.

Tamron SP Autofocus 90mm f/2.8 DI 1:1 Macro Lens

or

Nikon 105mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR Micro

They are all excellent Macro lenses. price is going to be the difference.

I feel like this is a dum question but i need some feed back.

I got a 60mm af-s micro 1:2.8g ed. I have tried it out and its OK. I can still return it but need some feed back.

What if any benefit is there to go up to like a 105 mm.?

I still don't see how people get these extremly close up shots.

Is it all down on the computer afterwards?

You've answered your own question. The real difference between the 60 and the l05mm is the working distance. The 105 lets you be further away and get the same magnification.

With the 60, to get to 1:1 magnification, you need to be within 8" of your subject. That's hard to do when shooing items in an aquarium. With the 105, you can be 5" further away.

I fallow what your saying but I still don't think that it will do what I was trying to achieve. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I see photos like these but focused al the way in on 1 individual branch.

Is the done buy zooming in on the computer or done buy a different lens?

The longer focal length lets you get in tighter, especially in an aquarium setting.

Extension tubes can also be used to further shorted the minimum focusing difference. That can let you get in really tight, but not if there's glass in the way.

I guess i will go get it give it a try.

I just don't want to spend the money on larger lens to only need to end up buying a photo shop program to get what i want.

give extension tubes a go. the kenko tubes are a great addition to anyone shooting macro's. that way you don't need to shell out a heap more money on new lenses
