Im looking for a good macro lens for my nikon d40. Looking for a used or cheap new one. Any recommendations. Dont wanna go over 300. Just for tank shots of corals.

How comfortable are you with manual shooting? If so, one of the best ways to get lenses at a bargain is by getting older manual lenses. Check adorama.com and keh.com for used equipment. I've gotten used lenses from both before, and they are great.

I have the 105mm f/4 AI which you can get for around $200. These old lenses work perfectly well on your D40. The only catch is you'll have to shoot in all manual.
