Help. I NEED to be able to take better pictures. I am looking to get a macro lense and don't know where to even start. All I have is the standard 18-55mm lense. I want to take some BAD A** pictures of my corals and frags. I have been checking out eBay and am confused. Please help!!! ANYONE???? Thanks!!

Oh btw i need to know what is the REAL difference (Picture Reference) between Tube extension and Tele converter (i know i asked that question but kind find where it was)

Ok so wich Tele-converted u suggest ?
Kenko Auto Extension Tube Set DG (12, 20 & 36mm Tubes) for Canon EOS Digital and Film Cameras

Kenko Teleconverters ?
Kenko 3x Pro 300 DG Teleconverter for Canon EOS

The Canon 1.4x EF Extender II seem to not fit one the 100mm macro ( List )

The Canon 1.4x TC WON'T work with the 100mm. I got the Kenko 1.4x 300 DG Pro and it functions perfectly. The AF works and I see no loss of image quality. I can't comment on the DG extension tubes yet as I have them on order. The extension tubes give you more magnification by allowing the camera to focus closer than before where as the TC works by magnifying the image which keeps the same minimum focusing distance. Tubes won't do any good unless you can get the lens closer to the coral. Oh, I'm looking to sell my 100mm macro if anyone is interested :D

Blazer don't tempt me with purchasing another lens...

I just ordered (ebay) a couple of really cheap extension tubes. Basically they are pieces of plastic that have canon fittings. All this will do is move my lens further away. There is no electrical connections so AF and aperture control are not going to happen. But for $5 it's at least worth a shot.

The cheap tubes will be useless for you since your lens will be stuck at it's wide open aperture and will thus only have razor thin DOF.

Well that depends on what lens I have. They don't all automatically go to full aperture. It won't be useless either way. I can still get good images even with a small DOF. It will take more work, but again $5. Also, if I reverse a lens onto another in conjunction with the tubes I can adjust the aperture very easily on at least one of the lenses.

Stacking multiple images with different focal points is another easy way to get around this, for $5, of course... But, thanks for the input.

Thanks for your replies guys!! This si getting me in the right direction. Seems a consensus on 100mm. Did I understand someone to say that it would or would not fit my particular camera?

It'll fit. It will perform like a traditional 35mm with a 160mm lens due to the crop factor of your sensor.
