Made a bet with my wife today.

Love The Fish
Today my wife bet me that I couldn't quit smoking. I told her if she lets me spend all the money saved from not smoking on a new tank that I bet I could. So the contest begins. I smoke 1.5 to 2 packs a day at about $7 bucks a pack. So I figure I can raise about $315 a month or more if I can do it. I think its a pretty good incentive, plus all the reasons I should quit anyways. I started my journey at 10am this morning so here it goes. Any tips from anyone thats quit would be very welcomed. Wish me luck. By the way I feel like Im losing my mind already.

Nicoderm CQ.
Worked great for me!

Whenever I craved a smoke I just told myself that I just smoked one and don't need another.

Sunflower seeds helped some too!

Gum, and when you’d usually go to the store to by a pack, still go but by like a soda or something. It’ll still satisfy the routine of it but w/o the smokes.

My son and his friends have found the electronic cigarettes helpful. They have rechargeable batteries and you can get cartridges with various strengths of nicotine or just flavors like vanilla, etc. They say it helped satisfy the need to go through the physical action of smoking. It's not cheap so you have to use it strategically - take a few puffs when you are craving it. The nice thing is that you don't have to use a cartridge all at once. He got his online but you could probably find them in smoke shops. Head West is almost next to SEA - they might be able to give you advice. Good Luck and keep us posted so that we can encourage you.

Thanks guys. Im trying not to use anything that has nicotine in it at all. I have tried everything in the past and I really feel my best course is to get the nicotine out of my system. If it gets too bad I may go do a laser treatment but I think sun flower seeds will be my savior.

Thats how I quit, bet a guy a $100 that I could go longer without cigs then he could without Copenhagen. I quit that job about 60 days after making that bet, never saw him again, never smoked again. Cold turkey is best or you'll get hooked on Nicoderm, and that will give you mouth cancer.

Another thing, smoking is as much a trigger habit as a nicotine addiction. You get behind the wheel, you light up, after dinner you light up, pop a beer, you light up. Thats also a trigger for the nerves and *****yness, trick is to recognize the trigger and laugh it off, after a few days your over the hump. Then watch your diet, food will taste good again and you'll try to eat more.

Stay away from any nicotine replacement products as they only feed the addiction. I found that just thinking about all the things I want to live for and how cigarettes could shorten the amount of time I could be around to enjoy them really helped as well. It's hard, but if you keep reminding yourself how short life is and that there really is no benefit to making it any shorter, you'll make it through. Good luck and if you need any more support feel free to pm.

It probably will considering its a patch meant to go on your arm! :)

But seriously, smoking is a very difficult addiction to break and if you can go cold turkey, more power to ya. I became sick and felt horrible when I went cold turkey. The "patch" will help alleviate those symptums.
You don't have to use as much of the patch as recommended or use it as long.
Just to help you through a rough time.

Good luck!

Caught me, lol, derm is skin or something. I knew a bunch of people that used the gum, they chewed a pack or more a day instead of cigaretts, Nicoretts?

Thank you all for all the support. I have to be honest, im going freakin nuts. Just gotta stay busy and keep my mind on other things.

My mood made a dramatic change for the better when I slapped on my patch after my morning shower. It was like burnin one.

Easing the physical addiction will make the mental addiction easier to break.
Then use the SF seeds. I liked the ranch flavored the best.

Don't get freaked out from the crazy, vivid dreams. I would wake up swearing that I just smoked a cigarette! It doesn't help that I dream in color.

I think you must "cycle through" an entire year before you can say for sure the mental addiction is broken. Especially if you are outside alot. But that makes it easier to dispose of SF shells. :D

Also, if you use the patch, you can't smoke or you will be sick or it can mess with your heart! Makes for another great reason not to!

So tell us about the new tank you will have!

As for the patch and dreams, my mom would take her patch off at bedtime and slap it on in the morning.

And about that tank??? :fish1:

Another day. I really felt better when I was a sleep. As far as the tank goes, I have some ideas but im not sure yet. Let just say it will be almost twice as big as my 125. Im thinking 60L 36W 24H.
