Mag 12 loudness?

for those that have a mag 12 plumbed in-line and used as a closed loop, how loud is it? i plumbed mine and seems to sound like a skimmer pump. is this normal? there are no bubbles coming from the return though so it can't be air.... any suggestions?

is it hard plumed w/ pvc or with vinyl tubing? I have a mag 12 on a closed loop and its super quiet. Maybe you have some air or your intake side is not providing enough flow. My closed loop was loud when i only had one 1" feed bulkhead.. re-plumbed to two 1" on the intake side and it got super quiet.

It is hard plumbed to PVC and spaflex with a 1"intake reduced to a 3/4 when entering the pump. it's got two 3/4 returns.

When i get home, i'll try and see if there is air in the intake . Should i use another pump to force feed the intake to flush out any air bubbles in the Mag?

Mags suck for closed loop plumbing... Tried the 9,12,18 and all too noisy. My tank is my room.

So I only run Ocean Runners and Eheims for inline. I sleep like a baby :)

I use a mag 12 inline closed loop PVC plummed, it's quiet. It was loud dude to vibration, but I just put a piece of vinyl tubing between it and the tank for padding. I like the mags...they're cheap and reliable.

I took the mag out and ran it without plumbing but the same noise is still coming from it when it's sitting on the bottom of the tank. It becomes quieter when i hold it in the middle of the tank so it doesn't touch anything... i guess that i'll have to live with the sound.. i'll just insulate the pump with foam around it.

I bet there is air stuck in it. Mine will be loud if I dont prime it correctly or there is air sucking in the plumbing or intake. Seriously, you cant hear mine at all. My skimmer makes more noise and it's inthe cabinet.
