Mag 12 ? Vho ?

I have what I think is a mag 12 and it won't run. it worked when I got it, I left it in the tank thinking I would keep the seals from dry rotting. It was under water not in use for about 6 months.

I pulled the shroud off, pulled the impeller out, but I'm down to the pump shaft and the hard/metal impeller that the motor turns.

does it disassemble further?

Is it rusted up?


I also have a vho balast that won't turn on. ocassionally when I plug it in it it pops at the receptacle but nothin. it worked fine before I moved, and I don't think it got hurt in the move. We only moved 1.5 blocks.

I tried turning all of the bulbs, checked for loose wires, etc

is there any hope for it?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Sometimes the mag pumps like to do that. clean it out good and pop in the impeller. Make sure there is no rust coming from the main housing...

P.S.: That mag 12 I took off my closed loop is only 2 months old...

They get calcium build up around the ceramic shaft inside the magnet and it locks them up,try soaking it in vinegar for a few days then try working it lose.

its been in vinegar for about 2 weeks, but still nothin!

P.S.: That mag 12 I took off my closed loop is only 2 months old...

I may take you up on that BK, how much?
