Mag 7 triping GFCI

Well I woke this morning to all power off to my tank. I found my GFCI wall outlet triped. I hit the reset and in 30 sec. triped again. So I reset it again but only slowly plugging different things into it. I found my mag 7 pump for my skimmer seems to be the problem. The pump is still running water through the skimmer but after 30 seconds or so it will trip the GFCI again. I am guessing it is time for a replacement pump?

Do you have any way to test the pump and see how much amperage it is drawing from the circuit? It could be a bad GFCI also. Can you plug the pump into another GFCI first? If it is an old pump then it may need replacing. :(

It looks to be the pump, but a little more "debugging" as oldsaltman suggested (using a different GFCI) and you can be sure. I've had old Mags do this also.

I tested pump on GFCI outlet in bathroom and same problem. I went out tonight and picked up a new one. The best part of the trip was also picking up a few new corals while I was there.
