Mag 9.5 vibration problem

Hey all, I finally got my sump/return nall set up with my Mag 9.5 as the return pump. Pump is working fine but it is very loud, there is an intermitent rattle/vibration that is just way noisy. Anyone else ever have this problem? What did you do to fix it? My Mag 7 was a little loud, but nothing like this. Any thoughts or assistance appreciated.

yeah, the pump sits right on the bottom of the sump which is a converted acrylic wet/dry.

I will try setting it on egg crate or something comparable and see if that reduces the noise.

What i did: cut a square of acrylic, drill 4 holes to accept 4 suction cups from MJ mount, or like i did pic up a some at Salty Critter then rough up the surface of the acrylic and glue it onto the pump with aquarium safe silicone. Mine has been that way for 4 yrs and i did the same with my Mag 12.

Sounds like a good idea cove. My mag 7 is a bit noisy for my taste, I will try that and also the egg crate to see if that helps.

I made a silicone pad out of eggcrate for my eheim:

The silicon pad out of eggcratye was a great idea

If you dont have any eggcrate and can take your pump out of the water for a half day or so you can just smear some siliconon the bottom of the pump and let it dry before you put it back in the sump.

If your pump is not new it may need a new impellor or volute or little flow director gizmo

i tried the eggcrate, but that didn't work...I think the sound is the pump itself...i think maybe I do need a new impellor...blah, well that's what happens when you buy a used pump, oh well
