Great pic. Such a really neat and unique feature of magnifica character. I personally really enjoy images of them in that pose. Unfortunately, my mag hasn't demonstrated that behavior since I've owned it. Even during feeding, water changes, etc..
My tank is next to a wall of windows that face North, with a bit of East, and West exposure. The tank gets a bit of early morning indirect sunlight starting at sunrise around 6:30/7:00AM.
A 10K 12 bulb LED spotlight and a 20K 12 bulb LED spotlight, both directed at the mag, come on at 8 AM.
A 250 watt 20K halide comes on at 3PM.
At 9PM the halide and the 10K LED go off.
The 20K LED spotlight stays on until 10PM but is more like a 'moonlight' effect.
The one that balls is under LED.. The other is under a halide 30'' above the water.. The LEDs are on a fancy programming schedule, they are also a lot brighter.
The one under the LEDs is also much larger at 12'' across, the other is only 4''
I think the light cycle plays a part because mine are both under LEDs with a fancy schedule too and they do it everynight as soon as the lights go out.
