MAG flake... anyone know where to get some?

Thanks for the response Jeff. They were one of the sites I was referred to, but they charge a premium for it. I found it on a few other fish supply sites also, but like I said it's always more expensive.
I located a company in MD that sells it for $15 for a 50lb bag... shipping will probably be rather expensive on one bag.
I just haven't had luck locating a company that sells it for it's actual purpose in Ohio.

I haven't had much luck either. It seems most people offer CaCl as the ice melter of choice here in NE OH.

That stuff is nasty, I still cant believe any one would put it their tanks. I just seen what it does in some ones eye so if you do find some wear glasses when pouring and mixing.

I'm going to use Randy's mix which is a combination of MAG flake & Epsom Salts. Thanks for the tip about the glasses though.

3. Using both Epsom salts and MAG flake, dissolve 7¼ cups MAG flake and ¾ cup Epsom salts in one gallon of water, and use that to supplement magnesium in amounts determined using this linked online calculator, with the entry "Randy's Recipes 1 and 2 Versions A and B," and ignore for this purpose what those designations mean. This recipe is preferred, but its advantage over recipe #2 is minimal in most cases.
Note that combining the two materials in solution can result in some precipitation of calcium sulfate (calcium and sulfate are impurities in the MAG flake and the Epsom salts, respectively. To assure yourself that the two materials have fully dissolved, dissolve each separately in some freshwater before combining them. Some calcium sulfate precipitation is acceptable, and it is okay to let the solids get into the aquarium, assuming you can dose in a way that prevents them from landing on delicate organisms.
Note also that this recipe (#3) is different from that given in my DIY two-part recipe, because in that case more magnesium sulfate is necessary to offset the rise in chloride that is provided by both the calcium chloride and the magnesium chloride.

Just my experience, but I wouldn't even bother with a Mag supplement. I haven't used one in 8 years & my acros & all corals have been fine. I use IO & it has a low mag level.
I sent a thread to Randy a few years back about Mag levels & the actual percentage lower that IO salt is to everyones target level & he agreed the difference isn't worth the hassle.
I haven't seen anyone with any scientific evidence that you have to meet this higher Mag levels to have corals thrive.
