Mag Pump Replacement Screws

I've read on RC that some folks are seeing their screws on their mag pumps rust.

Also there were suggestions to use nylon screws as replacement, anyone know where to get them and what size they would be?

Mag pumps use standard screws on all their pumps as in one size for a Mag 3 and a different size for their Mag 18 or one screw size for their complete line.

Thanks,

The screws on the Mag are stainless steel. You can get replacement SS screws at Lowes, etc. R

a good grade of SS willo be better than the low grade SS that the pumps original screws are made of.

yeah, i dont think that nylon screws will be able to be found in that small of a size.

they do make screws that will work, i have seen them on mags. i dont know what they are made of though, they look like white plastic

The screws that come with it will rust in time. If you use them submerged i suggest to swap them out. Mine rusted pretty bad. The worst part about it is that danner will not even entertain your complaints to them regarding this issue. Been there, done that!

instead of looking for nylon screws why not just seal where the screws are before you you put the pump in water with some sealant??

So everytime you go to clean it you have to reseal and wait until it cures? Why should we have to go through that. They need to come up with a better solution instead. Since this only seems to affect the submerged ones, they can make a housing without screws for that application. JMO.

true true. sorry for the mistake. i havent every had a mag pump and that how i seal other things but i gues to clean mags you have to take them apart?? anyway sorry just a thought. you could make little "plugs" or something to stick int the hole where the screw heads are if there is any room then make them a little long so you can just pull them out when maintnence is needed. i really dont know though sorry to bother everyone.

hey, a brain storm is just fine, nothing wrong with that at all. keep thinking of different ways to do things and eventually you find a great solution for a problem:)

i do that all the time...
