Mag ?'s

do you all dose mag? And is it sulfate or chloride? I sit for geneal growth in corals or does it do something else too?

im in the process of getting my mag level up to par...if your mixing it yourself you need sulfate and chloride (cheaper to buy the 2 powders instead of buying pre mixed solution)..from what ive read it is for coral growth

The ratio of Magnesium sulfate to Magnesium chloride depends if you are using a two part solution, kalk or reactor for Ca and Alk. I use Kalk and mix the two Magnesiums based upon BRS directions on the Magnesium chloride container. Magnesium sulfate is Epsom Salt so I get that at the store.

Mine was quite low in that I hadn't checked or supplemented it in months, and I am slowly getting back up. I do see some improvement in my coral and I am seeing new coralline algae growing.

I would have to say about the same, I did a quick Google comparison. We had Epsom salt in the house for other uses and I have not needed to replenish it yet.
