Hi,
I have an acrylic tank (big mistake). I have the Tunze magnet care magnet +. I have many many light scratches on the acrylic, even though I have been making sure not to catch any debris, sand, etc in the plastic blade. Is this because it's possible that my acrylic could be a low grade? Because this scraper is supposed to be acrylic safe. I didn't realize how many scratches the scraper was magnet until I took a closer look.

Only the small blade (45mm) is acrylic safe, this is covered in the manual. The wide blade is fiberglass and will scuff acrylic. If you used the wide blade this is probably the cause, but these should be a shallow scuffing that can be buffed out. You should outfit a care magnet for acrylic with a small blade on each end.

TY so much roger . I guess I missed that in the instructions!. I'll want to buff out the tank sometime anyhow as I have other scratches, not realizing tiny bits of sand can get in the way of a algae cleaner and the surface (when I first got the tank). But still I would not do acrylic again for a reef tank! The time used to be careful with hyper sensitive scratch not worth it :-D .

I cut a couple of little pieces of Magic Eraser and put them under the blades. It's not necessary as the small blades don't scratch, but I'm paranoid. Works great, just make sure to get the original that don't have any fragrance or detergent.
