Magnesium low

I was using IO salt which is supposed to have decent magnesium.

I tested it and it is coming out under 1200. Any ideas?

I don't have my alkalinity kit yet, but I have everything else. I meant to test my pH today but forgot.

I guess I'll get the BRS magnesium. I read plain epson salts isn't a great idea and the BRS gets rave reviews.

I use IO as well and the mag for me is around 1180. The alk is right at 11 via Hanna checker. I just have a gallon of brs mag sitting around which I use to buffer it up.

When I looked at salt reviews the IO should make it higher.

my pH is a little low too - looks closest to the 7.8 color.

My alk kit should be here Wednesday.

You could always switch to reef crystals instead.. It should be higher..
Its a "low cost" salt too..

that's actually what i just bought. I'm getting Tropic Marin Pro Reef next time because it's lower in alkalinity. I will know if that's an issue once I get my test kit.
