Magnesium too high?

Just tested my Magnesium using an ELOS test kit and its 1,550 , is it too high? Was reading natural ocean water is more like 1,350? I have no idea why its so high, I don't dose MG and I use Salinity salt and it says its 1,340-1,380 on the bucket. I did do a 7 gallon water change yesterday...(tank is a 28 gallon nano) Any thoughts anyone?

1350 is ideal. What is your SG? (measured with a calibrated refractometer). The Elos test has two parts, the first measures, in effect, SG. What was the number for that? That number should be around 34.

My SG is 1.026. Part A was 37 drops, then 6 drops of part D.

I just tested my Mg last week with a new ELOS kit and it tested at 1550 as well. I'm in the middle of switching from Reef Crystals to D&D's H20, so it knocked my dosing off. I was dosing the same as I did for RC and it bumped my Mg up. I didn't really worry about it too much because a lot of reefers will raise their Mg to 1500 to fight off GHA. However, I'm letting it come down on its own and each time I do my weekly water change it'll help stablize it again. Had to stop dosing Mg, until I get a grip on how the D&D tests. I wouldn't panick, but I also heard if you have chalices they like a little higher Mg as well in the 1400's.
