What are some of the brands of magnesium have you guys used?
I have some by Seachem, there are so may brands.
One said they are not salt based...or something like that.
I have mostly sps, calcium reaktoy, kalk...

I'm using some stuff made by Brightwell Aquatics. Its easy to use,and is more effective than the others i have tried. I got it thru Salty Critter. I'm not sure if Dan is stocking it but he can order it in for you.

I used the stuff from A.T. it doesn't compare to the stuff from Brightwell. It takes a bunch of that stuff to make a dent especially if you have a large system. I can add 4 tbs to RODI and bump my mag from 1290 to 1320 in 430 gals of water. I added a pound of the other stuff and the numbers barely moved.

Mag is the one thing my system seems to burn through quickly, so finding an easy and effective way to add it was an issue. I'm thinking of making a feed system so i can mix up maybe enough to keep the tank happy for a month at a time to keep the swings very small if not get rid of them.

I've used ESV, DT's, and Kent Tech M. It all depends on the size system you are talking about. As stated above... for larger systems mixing your own makes the most sense, but for smaller systems purchasing a pre-mixed supplement isn't a bad idea. For instance, I only use 60ml per week to keep my Magnesium level above 1400ppm on my 40g tank (approx 60-70g total system volume), so I don't mind buying the pre-mixed stuff, because it lasts a while.

Also, choosing a salt mix with a higher magnesium concentration, or buffering your freshly mixed salt water before you add it to the tank is good practice.
