magnet holder missing parts ?

I had ordered a 6100 Stream, 7095 controller and 6200.50 magnetic holder. I at first tried to hide/place/wedge the stream in and amongst the existing roxkwork. When this didn't work (After testing several locations for a couple of days each) I turned to the bracket shipped with it. After exhausting the mounting options with it I finally turned to the magnet (which I had bought in case I needed it). I went to try to use it I found that there was a piece missing.

It was missing the round L that slides into the 2 vertical slots on the holder. The arm on top of the stream then fits into this pieces (and allows rotational directional adjuestment of the stream). I thought perhaps it came with the stream itself, so I went back through the packaging (I keep everything, always have... we have a large section of our finished attic set aside for nothing but boxes and packing material from the items I have bought over the last couple of years). I could not find that piece. The corresponding component used for the brackets shipped with the stream was glued/welded to the back piece that attached to the down-rod of the bracket.

My question is what will it take for me to get that missing piece so that I can make use of this equipment ? or am I just not seeing something ? Thanks in advance.

All that comes in the magnet box is the magnets - the other parts came with the stream. At least that was the case with my two.

That is good to know, thanks for the heads up.

Now I just need to hear from a Tunze rep about how best to go about getting that part replaced, and at least now I know where the part should have been.

That part actually was with the stream, but it was glued into place and was/is not removable, so I couldn't use it for the magnet :(.

Exactly, those pieces were in the holder set that came with your pump. You needed two of the parts 6080.40 and 6080.23. The magnet holders are universal, they hold almost all of our products from skimmers to filters to pumps, the rest of the parts you need come with the equipment.

Well, at least now I know the part number(s), but that still leaves the question of how I go about getting them ? and why they were left out of my stream box in the first place ?

I do most of my ordering from Marine Depot and did not see where I could order replacement parts, I guess I could google tunze and try to find an order page there..... Excuse my laziness, but it is just as someone else had commented in a separate thread, after paying so much for this equipment one does not expect to have to jump through hoops just to get it to work.

Just my thoughts on the matter.

Thank you for responding with the part numbers.

It sounds like you have it, it is not glued to the downrod, it clips on their, their is a tab you pull back and it will slide off. If you need a new one Premium Aquatics stocks them or I can sell you one.

Right... the platform that slides on the downrod has that tab you can push to disengage the catch lever and slide the platform off the down rod. The piece that appears to be required for the magnet usage (from the magnet instructions) is permanently attached to the platform. The magnet simply has two vertical slots into which the piece in question is supposed to slide.

I will take some pictures later on today to better illustrate what I am trying to describe.

As for purchasing the missing parts, I will refrain from commenting on that until I can verify if the parts were actually missing, or if I just overlooked something.

Thank you.

Dude, by all descriptions you gave you have that part, post pictures of what you have before you make any comments. It is the same piece that slides on the rail that you described here-

"The corresponding component used for the brackets shipped with the stream was glued/welded to the back piece that attached to the down-rod of the bracket. "

That same piece just slides onto the notch in the center of the magnet holder.

Roger,

I will post pictures before I make any comments/rants that I would feel sorry for making. I actually had said as much in my last post, although not as direct a statement. I do acknowlege that I may simply be overlooking something (IE: being a brain dead moron), but I felt I had looked at all possible configuraitons and option with the pieces that I have.

I do apologize for coming on rather strong in the start of the thread, it was more frustration talking than anything else, both over the amount of money spent and my inability to get the product to work as I had expected. I do thank you for your patience in helping me work through this issue.

P.S. Pictures coming soon

Ok, broke open the box with the parts to get the pictures and took another close look at the magnet and other parts that I had and have to say that it is now official : I either need glasses or an IQ test.

I had gone over the setup several times on the day in question, with 0 success/luck. Today, most likely with a clearer head, I was able to "put the pieces together", literally.

I humbly retract any negative comments that I may have made against Tunze, in this forum, on the phone, in my sleep, etc.
