magnets? will they rust ?

I have been thinking of using magnets in my reef system . Do I need to find a way to make them water tight ? I have a way just wondering if I need to.

I'd guess that any ferrous metal will rust in saltwater. Best to incase in some sort of saltwater safe epoxy or resin.

I am using a product called tool dip .Its the stuff they use to put the plastic/rubber handles on tools . Takes about four hours to dry .

I know the product don'tknow if I would trust it as its almost like painting or ahard varnish don't know as to whether it would emit toxins into your water maybe some kind of pool epoxy paint several coats might be better if you try it let me know the outcome curious

I used a similar product on my custom cut glass lid edges... but it really isn't in the water
