Hello all,

I have had my mag for 2.5 months. But all is not well.:(

I think my mag is starving, he has shrunken in size. I feed him almost daily, but my clowns take his food. I have tried feeding the clowns first, feeding them a lot, but they always seam to come back and eat the nems food or just grab it and move it off to the side.

I am thinking I am going to build cage out of egg crate, it think that is what it is called, and isolate the nem from the clowns untill he regains his eating speed. at the moment it takes him a while to get the food to his mouth. Lucky for me he is on a rock that can be easly moved.

Here is a pic from about a month ago, he has gotten smaller since then:

Does this sound like a good idea? I realy want this guy to make it and will try just about any idea people have.

Tank is 75 gal. 250w de mh 14k hamilton.
all tests come out as 0 ppm thanks to the masive amounts of feather calurpa (sp).

Thanks,
Aaron

Healthy mags are fast to get food into their mouths. You can try using a large sieve to cover the anemone during feeding time. It will not hurt the animal. Also, try moving it as close to the light as possible without detaching the anemone from the rock.

I feed mine chunks of shrimp from the supermarket. It takes about a minute for the anemone to consume shrimp. Haddoni takes 30 sec :)

Marina,

I am thinking about elevating the rock in the DIY "basket" so the clowns can not get in and also getting the nem as close to the light a possible. I also fees shrimp, and my LTA has it completly eaten in about 20 sec. the mag takes a bit longer, and that gives the clowns time to take its food...arggg....

any other ideas because if I can find the egg crate, I am doing this tonight.

Thanks,
Aaron.

You mean like a basket with a shelf to place the rock on? Sounds like a plan. Make sure the sides are tied together snuggly and there is a removable top for feedings. Clowns have this annoying ability to go through eggcrate/jump over eggcrate if they really, really want to

I was thinking I would zip tie the whole thing together. If they jump the sides, I will just toss them out at feeding time. Just need him to eat some shrimp. If need be, I will use some needle point mesh to keep them out.

Thanks,
Aaron
