Little help needed please, cannot figure out why my Magnum 350 canister pump is making a bad grinding noise. I have cleaned out the impeller area many times, and it still is making that grinding noise. What's the scoop?? Is the impeller just worn?

Thanks guys....

It could be trapped air, are your connections tight? Are you getting any flow? Also, when you cleaned it did you notice the rubber ends of the shaft? It will grind if those were not put back on. If none of the above, try a new impeller, they are still available. The Magnum 350 is good filter, it would be worth the price. TinMan

Thanks for the reply TinMan, I think all of the connections are tight, I'll double-check, and I believe all of the rubber seals are seated. The impeller magnet is scratched from the charcoal bits getting in there over time, maybe I just need a new impeller......

It sounds as so Volkman, they are'nt that pricey, maybe $20-$30- it'd be worth the investment though. I've had the same filter for almost five years, it's a workhorse. I use it to run charcoal through my sump once in awhile. Good luck! and Welcome to Reef Central! TinMan

I would inspect the Impeller...when they get wobbled out where the shaft goes through the magnet they make a terrible racket. Replacement impellers are everywhere and are pretty cheap.
