Red Mangroves (Rhizophora mangle) have long cigar shaped propagules which are thicker on the root end and usually have a point on the other. Usually around 7" long.
Black Mangroves (Avicennia officianalis) look like a large tear drop, large lima bean or avacado shape. Usually around 1" to 2" in diameter.
White Mangroves (Laguncularia racemosa) look like flat peas and are less than .1" thick (and therefore you wouldn't see any propagule at the base of the maturing plant.
Grey Mangroves (Avicennia Marina)... I've only seen one diagram of this prop. and it looked like a ruffled fungus with the roots coming out the bottom. This shrivled appendage falls off once the plant is well established. Pretty unlikely that you have one of these as they aren't very common.
There are more, but I'm not familiar with them nor have I heard of anyone who actually has seen them - so it's most likely you have one of the ones listed.
