Main Event--Powder Blue v. Kole Tang

Thought I'd share this. Last night my Powder Blue Tang came out of QT and I knew my Kole Tang wouldn't be too happy about it because he is the alpha dog in the tank. I sat mesmerized for an hour watching these two square off, smashing their tails at each other, etc. Kole looked like the bully but the PBT didn't seem too phased by it.

Woke up this am with the Kole having some marks on its nose and the PBT strutting around like a Boss.

Love it.

Any Acanthurus usually wins vs. any Ctenochaetus tang. Unless there is a big size difference favoring the Ctenochaetus. PBT might even end up killing your Kole, if the former is ornery enough.

Acclimation box! I use it for almost all my new fish into the DT. I sometimes have to remove my PBT with some new fish because the box just doesn't work.

Not sure I would love it either. When I've had some fish aggression in the tank, it stresses me out. I want to enjoy a peaceful slice of the reef, not a battle that could result in harm, scars, disease or death. I love my Achilles tang, but i can't add any other fish due to his behavior. Not just tangs, he hates ALL new fish. Takes the fun out for me :(

I understand ghostman. I have a purple pseudochromis that refuse to accept any tankmates. He now lives alone in a 70 and everyone else is in my 120. I've had him for 3 years, and will keep him till he goes, but he is a beast.

That's an interesting point. From my limited time in this hobby, Achilles are sort of like a badge of honor, keeping an Achilles healthy sounds really hard. So is it worth it to keep a trophy fish at the expense of getting new ones? Tough choice. Congrats on the Achilles. I bought one for my buddy as a thank-you for helping me set up my tank (he was a HUGE help) and the Achilles didn't make it.

Hey Brett559, your setup is very similar to mine..curious as to your stock list for both corals and fish..thanks.
