maintaining with baking soda

Is there a magic amount of baking soda I should be adding a week to keep my KH at 8? I know if you buy a buffer it says to add a certain amount (based on tank size) 2x/wk or whatever... and I have the calculator that shows the amount to raise KH but what if I just want to keep it as it is? My tank is 75G. I understand I want to test the water to make sure all is good but was thinking of adding a tsp slowly in the top off water per week.
thanks

You would have to test and over a while of testing you should be able to guesstimate how much you are using... But why guess why not just test and go from there.. No need to shoot from the hip..

Well I doubt the amount will be the same but I use 2 tbs in five gallons of top off water and it keeps my 75G mixed reef right around 8-8.5

It all depends on what you have growing in there and how much alkalinity is being consumed by growth.

The thing to do is to get the number right and stop all dosing for a few days to a week. Test over that time and determine how much alkalinity the tank consumes per day. Then go to the calculator and figure how much baking soda or buffer or whatever to raise the alkalinity by that amount. Then that will be your maintenance dose after you get the numbers back up.
