Majanos

So about 6 months ago I got this leather and it had 1 or 2 majano anemones on it. I igonred that and put the rock on the side of my tank. then 4 months later I move it and it still has just 2 anemones on it. Now I look and the rock is covered , the leathers base is covered and they are spreading around my tank. I have tried to remove them manually, but that didnt work at all. I tried to buy a syringe but you have to be 18 and no one wants to buy one for me because they of the image that it says about them. Is there anything that will eat them, or is there other ways of killing them?

Thanks

Schools out so I can start taking better care of my tank.

I dont think a copper band will touch the Majanos. I feel your pain, I have been exactly where you are and now my 220 gal is majano free. Just to be sure what we are talking about, if they look like this
"Majano"

or this "aiptaisa"

either way I have had both. The way I have eliminated these pest is to get a syringe, no need for a needle either, and mix up some Kalk paste and cover the head of the pest with the paste, you hear people inject the pest with it, I just covered them with it.

To make the paste, mix some kalk and fresh water together so it has the consistency of white glue. Draw the paste in the syringe and cover the pest with it. I was covering about 50 or so a night for weeks. You may be concerned about covering other living things with the kalk paste, I will tell you that my zoos, scrooms, sps, and lps all recovered if they got any on them. remember its just calcium, but do be alittle careful with your other inhabitants.

If you have majanos, they like the light and will be towards the top of the tank, persistence is the key and you will get rid of them. If you touch the head of majanos before covering them they may come back the next day. It may take awhile and like TOURKID said, do not do all of them at once, it helps to have a partner spot for you while you cover them. I never tried joes juice because I am cheap and I had the kalk. I never sucked the pest up either, but whatever works for you. Good luck

I use Joes Juice on Aiptasia and it works well, it says on the bottle that it's for Majano's also.

Oh I forgot, you can go to a farm store to get syringes they will be the bigger type for cows and horses, but still works the same. Check farm and fleet or big R, but I am sure they don't have many of these stores in chicago.

I used white vinegar when I had an infestation (100's of them) and they were all gone within a month. I got a syringe from walgreens.

Hey drew haven't seen you post in a while, how's the 92 going?

I trying to find some joes juice locally, I'll stop by deep reep tomorrow, or see if somone will get me some syringes. I read that concentrated lemon juice works, and I already have that.

What ever works man. I think there are a ton of different solutions for problems. It just depends what is easier for you.

The 92 is doing well. Although, I have had two fish die lately. My clown was on the floor (no idea how it got there) and my purple tang disappeared in my tank after 3+ years.

I have been loading up with SPS lately. Starting to see some pretty positive things but of course the color, growth rate, etc... is never quite good enough.

How is your tank?

Well I've been setting up my 125 for like 6 months now, getting close though. My 55 is still softies though, mushrooms and gsp bsp leathers and xenia.

I don't think Deep Reef has Joes Juice. You can order from premium Aquatics now and you will have it by Friday

I second the Joe's Juice. Works Great. I got mine from Splash of Life, but from what I understand they aren't around any more.

I have used zap gel and/or super glue gel to seal them in their tombs. It works great if you can work with the glue before it dries, go fast!
