Majestic Angel In Mixed Reef

My questions are, who has one in their reef,
Do you think one would work in a 250g mixed reef with SPS LPS a few softies zoos and clams?
Thanks.

I tried it and did not have success.

I originally purchased a juvie when I had my 75 gallon mixed reef aquarium at home. He was fine for about a year, then ended up killing a small maxima clam and all my SPS frags with relentless nipping.

Fast forward 6 months, I moved him into the 8 foot long mixed reef tank I have in my classroom. When I was there to feed frequently, he did fine. I noticed a significant change in behavior when he had 8 feet to roam, as opposed to 4 feet in the 75 gallon tank.

This past summer, he ended up killing several Euphyllia when I wasn't there feeding frozen mysis and nori every single day (just pellets from the autofeeder). I know he also ate Kenya tree, but I was fine with that.

I think if I were able to constantly attend to the tank and feed massive quantities of food that he liked, I would still have this fish. Over the summer, I check on things weekly, change the water, and feed nori. That wasn't enough "attention" for this particular angel.

That being said, every fish is different, and adding a majestic to a reef aquarium is a gamble.

Good luck!

Scott,

This is off topic but whats the link to your classroom tank? I'm a science teacher on LI.

Thanks,

Gordon

I keep a majestic in my tank with mostly sps, few zoos, and a couple clams. It haven't taken a liking to any off the corals. It did like acans though. I had to remove all my acans a while back

Tarazed-do you have a Blue Face in your mixed reef? Would like to put one in my mine, but afrais I woun't have any corals.
