Majesty stand Sump Install center brace question

I have a newer Majesty stand from marineland its a 90 gallon so 48x18 however there is a brace in the front and rear. I need to remove one to install the sump. I notice both braces do not have contact on the floor however they are in contact with the tank on top. So i can't see there being much weight on the brace with just 4 nails holding it... I have searched and searched and everyone is back and forth on if there removable or not and depends on brands and style it seems. I just want to pop it out for 5 min to install sump then back in.

Anyone tried it on a Majesty 48x18 stand?

Any thoughts?

I would call their customer support and ask them. Most stands are supported at the corners but I'm sure those center braces serve a purpose.

Id also recommend draining a bunch of water out of the tank to lighten the load. 30 gallons is 300 pounds. So you can just drain them into some buckets and put them back in when you are done. Also maybe use a 2x4 on each side to reinforce while the center piece
is off.

They said no part of the stand is removable filled or empty lol

as for a brace i get the idea but if your not dead on it or in right place i would think that 1/32 movement would crack the tank anyways?

Maybe find a professional wood worker to help you. They can stabilize the stand with a deadman. I'm not a woodworker though. Sounds like a tough predicament. Whatever you do I would drain as much as possible to lighten the load. Hopefully someone with this specific setup can give you some info

No one know this stand? Okay what about does a tank need center support or is the theory all the support is from the corners true? Its a marineland tank as well.

Thanks

I am sure without that brace the stand will buckle. I have the same stand.

i don't think the stand would go anywhere its main support is sides. the center brace aint even touching the floor. but those 4 little nails might be doing a lot but i don't see it. was hoping to find someone that has done it and figured many have on this site...

Yeah that is basically a dead man but you may want someone with experience to help. Also lighten the load before you do it.

They wouldn't brace it if it didn't serve a purpose, even if you don't understand why. That being said, if you do something like BrokenSpoke's link suggests, you could probably get away with it unscathed. Lighten the load on the stand as much as possible, be very VERY careful, and determine if the risk is worth the reward. Personally, I'd risk it using the deadman method.
