major bubbles

I am having a major bubble algae outbreak. I have never seen one in my tank before. The only thing added to my tank in the last few months is unattached mushrooms. I have 3 Emerald crabs and they don't seem to eat them. They are multiplying like rabbits.
Any advice???

water quality is in check, I only have a damsel in the tank . the oly reason he is in there is because I can't catch him. He has not been fed in almost a year. my other tank (10g) has some too now that I looked they must have came from the water change. the 10g was a test I was working on and I used tank water from the 125 to fill it.

How long have emeralds been in the tank? Our 72 had several bubble's -- it took two small emeralds a couple of months but we have no bubble algae at all now.

And we have never witnessed the crabs eating them... but they must be because we have not changed anything else to reduce them.

the emeralds have been in the tank over a year. I pulled out all the bubbles that I could. I will see where it goes from there. Yes I use ro/di water from home.

Don't break those bubbles when you are taking them out. All you will do is make em multiply. I have bubbles in both my reefs and they are something else. I have emeral crabs and they seem to help . The closest thing I can think to do is pull em out when I'm doing a water change not allowing any of the goo inside em to spread to the rest of the tank. Since I started doing that I have a lot less bubbles in the tank.
They are kinda like aptasia , darn hard to rid yourself of em completely.
Best of luck to ya.
