Making green water.....

OK So i know someone was making green water for Clowns they were raising I think.... I know they gave away some of the water at a meeting once.

But I was wondering on how to start or make your own type of photofeast/plankton for copeapods and such....

anyone with info would be great.

To start, you'll need to culture 6 species in 5 classes, not a very easy task. Nanno is the common one most raise for rotifers, problem is, the cell wall is super thick, so it's akin off corn. Some can digest it, but most can't. Rotifers can.....copepods/fish larvea/most things in you tank can't digest it. IT's an excellent rotifer feed though (but is lacking in some crucial fatty acids, so enrichment is crucial).

You'd be best off doing a brown/diatom, if you want to feed stuff in your tank, ie. copepods. Melev has a good section on his site, as do we. The best place for this discussion is in the Fish Breeding Froum though, there's tons of hobbyists that would love to help you on this :D

This is exactly why I buy phytofeast! Not just because it's a good product, but the folks behind it actually offer advice even when someone's trying to make a DIY version of their product!

OH gresham is the man and so is the company he works for. I have purchased phytofeast, I wanna try to make my own and see how its done.

Off to the fish breeding forum I go.....WEEEEEeeeee

thanks gresh

Edwin,

Would you mind posting you recipe back to this post once you develop one? I am curious, but I do not have the time to do the research right now.

Thanks,

John
