Making Power-heads safe for animals

I am looking into a couple Tunze 6015's for a nano, and I plan to keep a BTA... How do I ensure that the power-head won't suck any small animal in and destroy itself and/or the animal?

I have two 6015's on a 18" cube. The way I try to keep my rbta from getting close is by putting my powerheads high in the corners where it is shady, the rbta stays out where theres lots of light. This works for me because i use a led spotlight though instead of lights that spread evenly. So depends on your lights and how they cover your tank, in my experience.

I have a hex tank and was hoping to put them towards the bottom pointing up, each facing different directions, this way I can create circular flow patterns always pushing organics and water up...

Thats a good idea to try and keep detritis from settling, but could definitely pose a hazard for a nem roaming. You could look at the tunze nanostream rocks but they say they are for the 6025's not sure if that would cause an issue.

Yah that is the worry, the rocks interest me, but at the same time they look pretty fake... I'll have to weigh my options

The vortech MP's come with a foam cover.

The problem with those is that since it is a hex tank, no matter where I place them they will always be pointed straight at the center rock structure... Ideally I want to create circular flow through my tank (more water moves if you fill up a bucket with the hose going along the sides as opposed to if you point it straight across)... and I've always found Tunze to be better products IMO...
