Making the move to Canon

Was hard to say good bye to all my Pentax gear. I love them, but the lack of high FPS has me looking elsewhere.

I'm sure we have some T1i users and 7D users?. Camera feedback input? I think between the two bodies I will be more than happy. Although I'm not found on the rubbish plastic feel of the rebel, but performance for its footprint looks dead on.

You really need to spend a little time holding both. Work through the menus and play with the controls. Both are very capable cameras but the Rebel's size and control layout isn't for everyone.

Agreed, as you may see from a thread I started not long ago. I was debating between those two cameras. But I actually ended up with a 50D. The reasons being:
I decided I could not use the rebel, I like to be in fully manual mode and the size and design made it too hard to adjust aperture and speed (you adjust both through the same wheel)....in addition it was too small for my hands and just did not feel right

I went with the 50D because I found out about some of the short comings with video (ie no auto focus in video mode). And decided that the better still abilities between the 50D and the 7D did not warrant the price.

So after about 500 shots with my 50D, I can say I am absolutely happy with my decision. Saving the money on the body will let me get some really good glass sooner. I am glad I have the faster frame rate vs the T1i, and am much happier with the body design.

Way back when I ended up with the first generation 10D over the rebel. I also hated the quality of the Rebel's feel and the 10D was more in line with the Elan I was used to using. I had NO regrets about spending a little more upfront. For sure get them in yuor had and see how they feel. My guess is that that the 50D is probably like the 10D regarding what I considered to be a better build quality and easier usability that the rebel. Just my .02 cents.

I'm getting both models. I dont like looking like a tourist with a bulky camera half the time. The Ms is not too found in holding a 3lb camera in her bag ^.^
