Mally the Malu

I have had a Malu now for a couple of weeks, it was very white, purple tips, and stays where it is no matter what current it gets.
I notice now that it is starting to go brown, I believe this is a good thing as it means it is growing its own internal algae.
Does this mean that it has been bleached on purpose just as a sales gimmick??
If so I shall find another lfs.
Thanks

Most likely the anemone was ust kept in sub-optimal conditions since collection. This is extremely common and the anemone wasn't purposefully "bleached" for sales. Sounds like he's pretty happy in your tank.

It's a good thing, congrats!
I don't think I've seen many healthy specimens in LFS, unless they've aquired them from local reefers and keep them in the right conditions. Most are bleached due to the stress of harvesting and shipping.
Some vendors (not necessarily the store owners) have intentionally dyed corals/anemones though, but white is not usually their color of choice.
Good luck!

best bet is to use macro mode and use the flash. Take the photo at a slight angle (20-45 degrees) so that you don't get any flash-back in the image.

Thanks,
Its the focus I have problems with, cant see the small screen proparly, have just found out I can connect the camera to a TV/Monitor which may help.
