mandarin and pipefish?

I have a mandarin in my tank. Currently it is a 48g bow and he has been there I think around one to two years or so. (recieved the tank with him already in it)

We will be upgrading to a 120g in the next month or two.

Can I keep a pipefish in the same tank or would he starve and die? Or perhaps there is a specific type of pipe you could recommend?

other occupants listed just in case these aren't compatible as well:
dragon sifter goby
signal goby
cleaner wrasse
oscellaris
royal gramma
small tri-color hermit crabs
lawnmower blenny

I realise pipefish are also sensitive to stinging corals, nems, etc., but my question is about the other fish not the corals.

how much lr do/will you have? do you use supplemental feedings? do you have a fuge or are you going to be upgrading to one? do the pipefish you are looking at eat frozen foods?

Not sure of the no. of #'s of lr, but I am guessing it is 100 or more. I will have a fuge in the sump when I convert to the 120g. and currently I have a mini fuge made from an AC110 on my bow.

Unfortunately, the pipes that have come in are all eating pods. (which is why I am concerned) However the ones I was looking at are the banded ones, and from what I have read these may be easier to get onto other types of foods than some other pipes.

You can buy live pods and stock your tank and refugium,saltwater fish .com sells themand there are several others if you search on google

I would wait until the new tank is up and running for 6 months or so before adding the pipes. With the 7 fish you have now, your kinda full IMHO. Letting the new tank setup and establish would be better for your long term succsess IMO.

Other then that, ya completely do able. Biggest threat IME would be the lawn mower blenny, but in a larger tank . . . could be cool.

What species of pipes you looking at.

Alright, sounds like good advice. Caution is aways better imo. The species...oh I can't remember the name but they are banded pipefish with red/orange-ish and white tails with black and yellow bands.

Don't think the lawnmower would bug it though, he is a big fat lard ball and for the most part he sits under his favorite ric rock unless it's time to eat.
