Mandarins in Nano Reefs?

I am not sure what it is about Australian mandarin fish, I have found 4 mandarins (both splendidus and picturatus) at one single LFS and everytime they are eating frozen.

Thats a pretty easy one to asnwer really. You live in the source country, 99% of us don't :D We get ones that haven't eaten in upwords of seveal weeks. I suspect yours aren't held in the COC nearly 1/5 the time ours are :D Yup, I'm jealous

I've had one living in my 30G long for quite a while with no problem and no special feeding. I have an EcoSystem fuge on the back and I feed the tank a frozen concoction patterned after Borneman's recipe in his Aquarium Corals book. Sounds like I got lucky by getting a mandarin who isn't finicky. Good luck!

My new mandarin has been eating zooplankton, arcti-pods and a mixture of (believe it or not) Spectrum grow, Spectrum Thera-A, and Bio-blend. (I feed this to all of my freshwater rainbowfish and clown loaches...they are crazy about it!)

I have tried other foods as well, but it is really hard to see if he is eating those as well. He hides alot, and alot of food flows between the rock where he hides.

But with the others...

So far, so good.
