mangrove tree/plants

I have some and I was wandering if I needed to plant them in sand, crushed croal or just let them sit in fuge. I was going to make a add on to my sump. Basically a 5 gallon bucket with holes for water in and out and the mangrove in bucket with light over it. What do you think?

Mine just sit in the fuge. Not in sand. I have had them this way for years without problems.

stand em up... I have mine in an old HOB filter.. A skilter 250 to be exact, with the skimmer parts removed..

I rigged up some egg crate and affixed it to the trim at the top of my tank. If you keep the leaves above the water, the roots will grow down until they hit your substrate. There are a few posts in the algae/marine plants forums about people using them in a remote dsb. Let me stress again - if anyone has some they wanna get rid of, PLEASE hook this brotha' up!!!
I LOVED the look of their crown peeking outta my tank...

great idea soupy,
Where do you get egg crate?

I think I will put them in my filter (i use it as a overflow for now) then when they have more roots I will put them in my special bucket. (who looks under the tank anyway) Bucket works really good so far. Somebody was selling them on ebay so I just made one myself it took like a minute.
