mangroves pods

can you put mangrove pods that you find at the beach in your tank and if you did do you have to clean them good or how i would like to put some in my 75 reef because I'm in high school and I'm in marine science so i would like to let them grow and when they get to big plant them along the shore to help the mangroves repopulate.

Here is what I did:
Take a pod and plant it about 3 inches in some sand or soil. Make sure the sand is always wet, never let it dry out. The wetter the better. In about 5 days or so, you should start to see little nubs of roots starting to poke out. This is where I transfered them to the aquarium. I suspend them with their roots in the water, the bottom is about 3 inches in the water and the rest is in the open air. You will see the roots start to grow. Eventually the little point on top will turn into leaves. This process takes a while, so patience is important

Do u need to clean them before putting them in the in tank in case of any bacteria

visually inspect them for anything growing on their lower half. Rinse with tap water and perhaps wipe it. If you see anything that isn't mangrove, like barnacles or algae, I would manually remove it

Check the legality also, I know some of the mangroves are protected - not sure about the pods.

Ok Ya because once they get bigger I want to plant them along shores to help repopulate the mangroves

I think that Pods are fine as long as there are no roots. What shoreline do you plan on planting them?

i live in tarpon springs so along areas where there are mangroves or on oyster bars that are little island
