Mangroves with skimmer

I got rid of my skimmer shortly after I put my mangroves in my tank. Does anyone else do this? Should I still be running a skimmer? Give me some ideas.

I got mangroves and chaeto and I still run skimmer, just in case.

I would still use a skimmer if you are only going to rely on mangroves for additional filtration.

A lot of mangroves are needed to notice a change, i would always recommend running a skimmer no matter what

You have to be careful with mangroves. I hear that the roots can bust through the tank.

I have mangroves and chaeto in my refugium and in my sump is the skimmer. The roots are strong and grow, so I have them high and between live rock with tops sticking out of water.

Just curious but I have seen several threads here that someone states that the mangrove roots can break the glass in a tank.

Has this happened to anyone?
