im brand new to mantis keeping.

i have a n. wanneree (sp?) in a 7 gallon minibow. i have been feeding him strombus snails (the ones from ipsf.com). anyways i was wandering how many of these guys a week shouuld i be giving him? i also put in a small bit of frozen food 2 times a week which he greedily consumes.

i have just been throwing the snails in there 5 at a time and he is destroying them VERY quickly. at this rate my strombus snails dont reproduce fast enough to keep up with the mantis. im thinking he doesnt need near as much as he is getting. he is currently getting maybe 10 a week. whats everyone's opinion??

i dont want to starve him but 10 a week seems quite excessive.

nobody has an opinion??

i guess ill just continue to throw the snails in as i have been and hope that he slows down.

i just drop several pieces of ripped up salad shrimp every few days, my mantis love it and it's cheap... 5 bucks for a bag that lasts months. Feed 'em with a feeding stick that they will recognize and watch the fun! Anyone else have any suggestions?

My N. Wennerae eat pretty much any kind of seafood I throw in with them. I've tried shrimp, clams, silversides. That does seem like a lot of snails. Mine only eats about every other day or so.

I've fed mine shrimp, tuna, mussels, little necks, squid. Always something in the frig, and everyone gets to eat a bit of whatever seafood I end up with at dinner. Doesn't seem to be much he doesn't eat.
