Well, my shy mantis went nuts today for the first time since I've had him as a hitchhiker for over a month. He would only stick his head out of his hole to feed then after about two weeks of target feeding him with frozen shrimp, he just finally broke loose and started swimming all over the place and crawing through the reef.
I need a digital camera so no pics yet but when he comes out again I will attempt to get him with my webcam (will be difficult). He/She is brown and has blue legs, about two inches long.
He did one thing that scared me, though - he kept testing his bounds by swimming up the glass wall to the top. I wonder if he would have escaped if I didn't have the top on!
They are FAST!
I hope my small green one breaks free soon - he still only pops his head out for feeding. I just put a medium size snail in there to eat the brown algae so I hope he won't get attacked now but the brown mantis just passed him by so far.
