Mantis in mini refuge

I found a tiny (half an inch big) mantis in some mushroom covered rock I got in a trade. I decided to keep him in a breeder box that I'm using as a temporary mini refugium. From here I will decide one of two things...keep him and set up a species only tank or give him to the LFS for someone who collects them.

My question is...how fast do they grow? I'll move him into another tank once he's about 1" or 1 1/2"

I was also wondering about food. Between all of my tanks I feed a variety of foods; frozen mysis, frozen brine shrimp plus, daphnia, silversides, frozen bloodworms, flake food, pellet, high protein pellet, and occasionally tiny shrimp from the seafood counter. I feed a variety of these plus a few assorted frozen cubes (squid, greens, etc) Which would he prefer?

Thanks!

hey if u dont want him id love to take him off your hands ive been looking for one for months now
if not ill help u with the care haha

Mine is much larger than that, but he likes scallops, snails, guppies, and frozen brine shrimp cubes.

umm, defeating the purpose dont you think? a refugium literally means a place of refuge from predators like mantis shrimp. probably not the best place if you plan on keeping the fuge, wouldnt you think?

if he just wants the plants and what not in there it should be fine i mean no peppermints or injured fish but the plants alone a mantis in a fuge is fine mine is living with plants and even a few small fast damsels
